The Earthquake

After sleeping really really long, we went to downtown Berkeley and had a great steak sandwich from some brazilian cafe. After we bought some smoothies and stuff, we went back to Ben's appartment (which is really great) as Flo had some work to do (well, me too).

Luckily, the weather got better (sunny and 15° C, whatever this is in Fahrenheit), so we picked up Ben from the university and tried to buy some shoes. That is not because we like shoess so much but more likely because Flo only had his flipflops and I forgot my sneakers in the office (as I always change between cycling shoes and my sneakers...). Well, after a couple of hours going from store to store finding nothing, it got really annoying, especially for Ben as he had nothing to do but rating everything we tried on. Regardless of not finding any shoes, we got to know the Well, after all Flo found some shoes and I ended up with a pair of Chuck's. I had never thought I'd buy some of these again, it really feels retro!

While driving around to the mall, we went up to Indian Rock where we had an awesome view over the bay area.

Well, after we found some shoes we were comfortable with, we went to downtown Berkeley to have something to eat. We went to a place its name I can't recall and had some pizza, beer and ale (whatever the difference might be). While I went to the restrooms some guys were talking about some earthquake that took place just about an hour ago. Well, I can't tell that I felt anything but even the german press covers that story. As a matter of fact, it was the largest quake since the 1989 quake where 63 people died. Anyway, I'm fine and nothing really happened according to the news.
Fortunately, the public transportation system (BART) was still in service (although it was only operated at half speed) so we were able to go to San Francisco to get some beer and meet two friends of Ben's and Flo's.
